Join Now!Season 1 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is getting closer and closer, with the starting date of November 6th, 2026 almost upon us. As promised, the Monday before is the day when we finally get more info on how the free-to-play battle royale’s first season of the new game’s gonna look like – enter Hajin and Zodiac!
Modern Warfare 4 enters Warzone
The official Call of Duty blog has put up a massive post, detailing the countless additions and changes to Warzone, as the Modern Warfare 4 year begins with the upcoming Season 1. Needless to say, the most immediately obvious news are two new maps populating the various game modes. There’s the massive Hajin, the middle-ground between the two Koreas and Russia which we learned to know from DMZ and the mainstay for the foreseeable future of regular Warzone, plus the smaller Zodiac, made for the various modes with less players like Resurgence.
That’s far from the end of it, of course. Player levels get reset, and the selection of Modern Warfare 4 weapons, operators, and so forth join the Warzone rotation, leaving the year of Black Ops 7 content behind. Tac Sprint is back, so is Carry Forward – letting players bring over their operators, emotes and more from the previous four Call of Duty games – so from 2022’s Modern Warfare II onwards. Purists of the “pure” Modern Warfare visual style do not have to worry – an Operator Skin Toggle will let players disable any and all wacky skins, sticking to each operator’s original, relatively grounded look.
What a nice weather
The dynamic weather conditions we’ve seen in the ambitious DMZ are back in full force in Warzone as well – letting players drop onto a Hajin that can be sunny, rainy, foggy and more, thus impacting the visibility, the audio cues and so forth. A brand new Gulag with two variants within Hajin is also introduced, so people trying to rejoin the battlefield will need to learn a new small arena to succeed. Later in the season, the legendary Verdansk map will also make a comeback, and the same goes for Rebirth Island.
Various, transformative field upgrades also join the battle. From the Zipline Launcher which lets our team reach tough elevated spots to the Grabber Drone, letting us grab teammates, flammable objects, loot and more and take it where we need it to be. But there’s so much more, really. Brand new game modes, the novel Ground Ops, a revamped Perk system, new vehicles, Warzone Mastery Camos and so much more. Head over to the Call of Duty blog to get all the fine details!
A new season begins soon
As a reminder, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has been in physical and digital stores since October 23rd for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, dropping last-gen consoles for the first time, but also releasing on Nintendo Switch 2 – a series first. Season 1 of the game’s year-long support begins on November 6th across all platforms, and as always, the new iteration of Warzone will be a free-to-play mode within the Call of Duty launcher – so you do not need to buy Modern Warfare 4 to play it.
