EA Releases 25 Classic Games, Including Road Rash

Electronic Arts (EA) has launched 25 classic games on Steam, including Road Rash and the Wing Commander series. The lineup is split into seven Anniversary Editions and 18 classic games debuting on Steam for the first time.

In creating the Anniversary Editions, EA secured the original master full-motion videos for the seven titles to restore over 1,500 cinematic scenes. After discovering an archive containing thousands of storage media and materials such as Betacam, VHS, and D1 tapes, the team conducted digitization and re-editing work.

The Anniversary Editions, which include Road Rash and the Wing Commander series, support modern operating systems and control environments. While focusing on maintaining the original graphics, gameplay, and creative intent, the releases feature quality-of-life and performance improvements tailored to modern PC environments.

The 18 classic games debuting on Steam include titles from Ultima, Crusader, and Theme Hospital.

Work from the fan community was also incorporated into the Wing Commander series. The EA development team collaborated with the fan community during the restoration process, integrating user-created mods into the official release versions.
