Baldur’s Gate 3 Origin Characters Updated In New Console Content

One of the main reasons Baldur's Gate 3 is so beloved is because of its eclectic cast of characters. Astarion is a snarky, charismatic vampire, Shadowheart is a tough religious nut, Lae'zel is a fierce warrior, and Gale is a bit of a wet wizard. Their journey with your created Tav is special; each playthrough feels different because of their interactions.

Of course, if you don't opt to create a Tav, you can use one of Baldur's Gate 3's main cast members as an Origin Character, completing a playthrough from their perspective.

Now, a new batch of content officially vetted, uploaded, and approved by Larian is headlined by major changes to Origin Characters, giving them a brand-new perk. This comes alongside a huge new class and Warlock subclass.

Baldur's Gate 3 Console Version Gets 14 New Pieces Of Content, Including Origin Changes, A Fiend Hunter Class, And Soul Reaper Subclass

Larian has done a fantastic job at keeping Baldur's Gate 3 alive. While the studio didn't really need to do anything, given just how varied each playthrough feels, it released eight major patches, with the last coming in April 2025. Although official content stopped coming, the team continued to vet the best user-created mods, uploading the cream of the crop to the console versions of its game.

This year has seen some stellar content move from PC to consoles, including a version of Shadow of Mordor's Nemesis System, a werewolf version of Shadowheart, and quite literally dozens of new races, classes, and subclasses.

The latest of these drops has just hit consoles, and we've done the legwork, collating each one of them here for you, so you don't have to worry. You can check them out below:

  • Mass Rez Scroll - Changes Scroll of Revivify to apply to multiple downed targets.
  • Remove Ritual Casting - Removes the ability to ritual cast spells, making the game more difficult.
  • Shortash | Halfling Gortash Replacer - Replaces full-sized Gortash with a Halfling version.
  • Big Grease - Adds a Level 2 spell slot version of Grease that creates a larger Grease puddle.
  • Soul Reaper - Adds a new Warlock subclass where you become the patron of Death, wielding shadow and soul.
  • Fiend Hunter Class - Adds a new class, focused on hunting fiends. Comes with three new subclasses, new attacks, abilities, armor, and weapons, plus two new resources: Hatred and Discipline. Hatred is used to fuel your special attacks, while Discipline is used for tactical actions.
  • Shadowheart's Elfsong Stool - Shadowheart gets an upgraded Elfsong Stool.
  • Eat Your Heart Out: Dark Urge Consumable - Dark Urge can consume humanoid hearts.
  • Isobel Survivability Overhaul - Gives Isobel thematic AC boosts and sanctuary to give her a better chance of survival.
  • Second Chance: New Dark Urge Reward - Withers has a gift for Resisted Dark Urge.
  • Bloody Inheritance: New Dark Urge Passive - Dark Urge will heal themselves while standing in blood after their Act 1 event.
  • Unnerfed Origins - Gives all origins and companions passives from their pre-tadpole selves.
  • Dark Urge Sword & Shield Pack: Force Weapons - Adds a Dark Urge-themed longsword, greatsword, and two shield sizes.
  • Early Minsc - Adds Misc to Act 1 while preserving The High Harper questline.

Today's drop is Durge-heavy, but it's a great one. The new class and subclass are a lot of fun, and the Unnerfed Origins completely changes how Origin Characters play. It's definitely time to jump back in.

What Are The Additional Origin Character Passives?

Below, you'll find a list of the passives the Origin Characters will receive:

  • Gale: Archmage of Waterdeep - Let you cast Illusion or Enchantment spell as action or bonus action.
